WHAT IS AGILITY?
Agility is the ultimate fun game for you and your dog. Your dog will follow your cues through an obstacle course consisting of jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and other objects. To see some typical agility courses, see the diagrams below. Agility is one of the fastest-growing dog sports in the United States!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AGILITY?
Agility will strengthen the bond between you and your dog, and it provides great fun and exercise for both of you!
WHAT IF I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE?
No problem! We have a class for beginners to patiently teach you the foundations of agility, in preparation for learning how to handle all the agility obstacles.
WHAT IF MY DOG HAS SOME AGILITY EXPERIENCE?
We have classes for every level of experience and proficiency. Some of our more advanced dogs compete in official agility trials. Many of our dogs that now compete started out with no prior agility experience.
WHY SHOULD I TRAIN MY DOG AT KCTC?
We have something for everyone! As mentioned above, we have classes for dogs (and handlers) at all levels of experience. |
We don’t care if you take our classes just for fun or whether you eventually want to compete in agility trials. We just want you to have a great time with your dog! |
We use only positive reinforcement methods for teaching. We do not believe in harsh corrections. |
Our instructors have competed in agility (some at the National level) and many have advanced agility titles. In addition, they bring a wealth of experience to both teaching and competing. |
We have a flexible training policy. What works for one dog may not work for another dog. Our goal is for your dog to be successful, regardless of how that is achieved. We do not believe in “My way or the highway!” |

WHAT IF MY DOG IS ALREADY COMPETING?
Our Level 6 (advanced agility) class may be what you are looking for. We simulate the sequences you will encounter in an agility trial, and teach you specific handling techniques that you will need.
WHAT ELSE CAN KCTC OFFER ME?
Renowned agility instructor Donna Rohaus gives private and group lessons at KCTC. Donna can help accelerate your learning curve. Check the homepage for dates.
And of course, we offer a variety of other classes including Obedience and Rally. Obedience training is a good foundation for agility, and strengthens the dog/handler bond. Successful completion of a Basic Obedience (Family Manners) class is a prerequisite for our Foundations of Agility class.
WHERE CAN I SEE SOME KCTC AGILITY DOGS IN ACTION?
Easy! Just click here to see a video of some of our dogs who have competed in an agility trial.

CAN I VISIT ONE OF YOUR CLASSES BEFORE I SIGN UP?
Certainly! You are welcome to visit us (without your dog) to observe any agility class and how we teach it.
CAN YOU GIVE ME A SUMMARY OF YOUR AGILITY PROGRAM?
Our program has something for everyone. If you have no agility experience, we offer a support network that understands your anxieties about trying something new. If you have some experience, we offer classes at the right level for you and your dog. We emphasize the fun aspect of agility, and our agility classes have proven to be very popular.
HOW CAN I ENROLL IN A KCTC AGILITY CLASS?
All enrollments are done on-line. Go the CLASS SCHEDULE page, click on the enrollment instructions, then log in as a non-member and submit an enrollment form.
